As an introduction to Diplomacy play here are a few online reference you may
find extremely handy:
www.diplom.org : Diplomatic Pouch: THE central repository of everything Dip.
>From maps, to variant info, to strategy, this place has it all. Check out
the various "editions of the pouch" links for tons of articles on tactics
and diplomatic skills. As well as theories and some history. Some gqmes in
there to tease you mind as well!
http://www.diplomacy-archive.com/resources/strategy.htm : Loads of opening
strategies. I suggest taking this one some night and reading it, so that
when I say "hedgehog" or "juggernaut" you know what I'm talking about :)
I've read all of them. Helped me a great deal in pure tactics.
rec.games.diplomacy : If you do Usenet Newsgroups, add this one. Its the
bulletin board for everything Dip. I personally can't keep up with it, but
if you find something on it and want to talk about it, feel free to tell me
and I'll look it up. If you don't do Newsgroups, but would like to check it
out, go to www.deja.com (Google groups). It's an online newsreader in a
somewhat nice format.
www.floc.net : an online mapping tool for diplomacy. Simply click on the
first link (Game form) and enter the judge name (NZMB) and game name
(teachme3) and click/hit enter, then click on any of the GIF format "Current
board" links, and you will have yourself a nice map of the game as it
currently stands.
Peek around in these places, and like I said, if you come up withanything
you'd like to discuss, do bring it up! I'll be happy to discuss anything!
(Dip or not!)
